Ingrid Currington is an Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) and Accredited Nutritionist (AN) with specialist expertise in educating and counseling clients to lose weight in a healthy and sustainable way.  She has a passion for good food and for demonstrating how truly satisfying and enjoyable a balanced, nourishing diet can be.  She is a member of the Dietitians Association of Australia (DAA) and has over five years experience managing patients with a wide range of medical conditions in hospitals and community centers in Australia and England.

Achieving and maintaining a healthier, lighter body weight is a challenging and complex task. Ingrid will help you to better understand the reasons behind your struggle with weight, and provide you with support and guidance to tackle these issues.

Why an APD?

Accredited Practising Dietitians or ‘APDs’ are the recognised experts in the field of nutrition. They have the skills and training to translate complex scientific nutrition information into personalised, practical dietary advice. They are qualified to use dietary and lifestyle modification to assist in the management of clinical conditions.

Accredited Practising Dietitians gain their qualifications through an accredited university course (usually 4-5 years full time) and commit to uphold the DAA’s Code of Professional Conduct and Code of Ethics. They undertake ongoing professional development through participation in the APD program, which is the national credentialing system administered by the DAA.

What to expect in your first session:

Your first appointment will last approximately one hour. In this session, you will explore your current eating patterns, food choices, and lifestyle to determine the best course of action to take in managing your weight.

Depending on your needs, you may set some simple first goals to take in changing your problem eating behaviours and habits. You may develop an individualised eating plan to support a gradual but steady weight loss. The advice you receive will be tailored to your needs and will be based on up-to-date and evidence-based weight management guidelines.

Follow up sessions:

Most people need ongoing support to address their long-standing issues with weight. After your initial appointment, further follow up sessions will allow you to build a solid foundation of skills, knowledge and insights that will help you maintain a lower, healthier weight permanently.   They provide an ideal opportunity to increase your knowledge of topics such as portion control, energy density, and label reading. These sessions also focus on building practical skills in becoming better organised, menu planning, and cooking and preparing tasty healthy meals and snacks.
