Dr. John AM Gall

About Dr Gall:

I am a forensic physician with over 20 years experience in the field.  I am  a Senior Consultant in the Victorian Paediatric Forensic Medical Service located at the Royal Children’s Hospital and Monash Medical Centre, a Clinical Associate Professor within the Department of Paediatrics, The University of Melbourne, a member of the International Editorial Board of the Journal of Legal and Forensic Medicine, Internet Journal of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, and Egyptian Journal of Forensic Sciences.  I undertook postgraduate training in anatomical and forensic pathology and clinical forensic medicine. I have practiced Clinical Forensic Medicine for over twenty years initially as a Forensic Medical Officer with Victoria Police and later as a consultant at the Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine.  I have been extensively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate education both at the University of Melbourne and Monash University, have been involved in forensic medical research and i have published several books and research papers in the field.  I am President of the World Police Medical Officers.

PrEPX trial continuing at Era Health

Although Dr Forgan-Smith is soon to leave Era Health, the PrEPX trial is continuing in our clinic.  A/Prof John Gall will take over the management of all PrEPX patients and all other patients requiring PrEP to ensure continuity of care.  We will continue to provide on-site Rapid HIV testing and will be expanding our sexual health services to provide HIV prophylaxis (PEP) and other male and female sexual health services.

Medical areas of specific interest:  Sexual health, mental health issues; men’s health; injury management; occupational health; aviation, rail, maritime and diving medicine; workplace assessments; forensic medicine; toxicology; child abuse.

Beyond medicine:  I swim, play tennis, dive, fly and enjoy cooking and entertaining guests over a fine glass of red wine with appropriate classical music in the background.

Dr Jennifer Chia

Dr Jennifer Chia studied medicine at The University of Sydney and graduated with Honours in 2002. During her hospital training she trained extensively in surgery, general medicine, emergency medicine, and anaesthesia and intensive care. She has post-graduate qualifications including Sexual Health and Skin Cancer Medicine and Surgery. She gained her Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2007.

Dr Chia has a special interest in Skin Cancer Medicine and is able to competently perform minor surgery to remove skin lesions including skin cancers. She also has experience with aesthetic skin procedures like injection of botulinum toxin and dermal fillers.

Dr Chia also has a special interest in all areas of Sexual Health (Males and Females, LGBTQI) and Reproductive Health. She is able to provide necessary health checks and advice, and also recommend the most appropriate contraceptive options or management of unplanned pregnancies. She is also able to insert and remove the Implanon and Mirena IUD, and provide advice regarding Menopause and Hormone Replacement Therapy.

In addition, Dr Chia is available for assessment and management of complex chronic health issues including weight loss and the provision of Care Plans and Mental Health Plans to suitable patients.
